Document Destruction Environmental Policy

Box-it is dedicated to an environmental document management storage policy which will ensure that its operations meet the requirements of ISO 14001:2004 at all times.

Box-it believes in the concept of customer and supplier working together in pursuing this policy and in continually striving for improvements in environmental performance.

All of Box-it’s employees must have a positive commitment to environmental performance improvement and respond effectively to achieve the standards required of them.

The environmental policy is based on four fundamental principles:

• The recognition that the Box-it operations have an impact on the environment and use resources which are not infinite. We will actively manage our procurement, our use of energy and water, and our waste processes. We are committed to prevent pollution and to conform to legal requirements.
• The purpose of environmental management is to consider carefully our processes, including those of our suppliers and the views of our customers, with the objective of reducing the environmental impact of Box-it.
• The Environmental Management System concentrates on prevention of pollution and continual improvement in environmental performance, looking at our processes, identifying the potential for non-compliance, for improvement in the environmental aspects of our operations and taking the necessary action.
• The measurement of environmental performance is based on the ‘environmental footprint’ of the company, and will be used as the framework for setting out targets and objectives and a programme to achieve them.

To ensure that the policy is successfully implemented, each member of staff will be responsible for understanding the environmental impact of their job, complying with internal requirements and ensuring that the correct procedures are followed to meet those requirements.

The environmental policy involves all employees and the principles and objectives will be communicated and available to all employees and to the public at all times. Assistance and training will be given to employees to ensure the relevant knowledge and experience is acquired for successful implementation of this policy.

The Environmental Management System is closely monitored both internally and by a UKAS Accredited Registration Body.

Management Commitment

Box-it is committed to implement and maintain a documented Environmental Management System which complies with the requirements of ISO 14001:2004. This operating system is designed to embrace all company functions, thus ensuring the efficiency of the business and the consistent delivery of a quality product/service for all customers. To this effect, this Environmental Management Policy has been established and communicated at all levels within the organisation.

Legal Requirements

Box-it will exhibit only the highest standards in maintaining a policy of honesty and correctness at all times towards both customers and employees. The company Environmental Management Representative, in conjunction with the Senior Management team, has responsibility for ensuring that all legal requirements applicable to the business activities and relevant industry 'codes of practice' are identified, understood and adhered to.

Customer Focus

All enquiries by customers about Box-it’s environmental policy and its application will be subject to formal controls. Procedures are established to ensure that the customers enquiries are documented and responses sent to adequately meet the external communications requirement of ISO 14001:2004.
