It’s Gold again for Box-it

For the fourth consecutive year, Box-it is proud to have achieved Carbon Smart® Gold Certification, the highest attainable level, considered as ‘Showing Leadership’, within this nationally recognised sustainability programme.

Gold Certification demonstrates our ongoing commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, meeting our environmental targets and our proactive approach to introducing new sustainability initiatives.  An example of two new initiatives for this year included recycling old office furniture and purchasing materials from sustainable sources.

Recycling, reducing emissions and generally becoming more energy efficient, is a business priority for Box-it, and for many of our Regional Offices, who share our commitment to sustainability and the environment. We plan routes carefully to enable our fleet to be fuel efficient, and generate energy via PV panels. We also take measures to reduce contaminants in waste and continue to support the planting of trees to help offset our carbon footprint.

Our Gold Certification is based on many different aspects of our business operations, with an emphasis on continual improvement.  It takes into account our fleet mileage, fuels and company travel, (including that of our supply chain) as well as other factors relating to the operation of our business that have an impact on the environment, such as electricity and water consumption.

Speaking on behalf of Box-it, Bob Horton, Director of Operations says, “We are delighted to receive Carbon Smart® Gold Certification four years in a row. This recognises the practical actions and decisions our business has made to reduce our carbon footprint.  Becoming a sustainable business is not a single action, and is an ongoing process that involves a constant commitment to reducing our environmental impact.  I am pleased to say that we are getting better all the time, and continue to look at ways of reducing emissions.

Bob continues to say, “This strategy for continuous environmental improvement and heightened carbon performance will become even more prominent within our long-term business planning, and will be aligned with our vision of  Always Better….. .

As well as having Carbon Smart® Gold Certification, Box-it’s environmental policy meets the requirements of ISO 14001:2004.
